This section, mirroring the 3rd edition’s theme, “Designing Our Lives for a Better Future,” delved into how our shared humanity shapes the vision and creation of everything we design. By addressing pertinent topics on sustainability, inclusivity, and social responsibility, we explored how design can enhance well-being, foster community, and protect our planet, urging us to consider the broader implications of our creative choices and the urgency of adopting ethical design practices. Moreover, we investigated the effects of neglecting these principles, highlighting the potential negative impacts on our lives and the natural environment. This section provided a platform for creatives, thinkers, and dreamers to exchange ideas and inspire action, emphasizing the transformative power of thoughtful design.

هذا القسم من المهرجان، ممثلاً شعار الدورة، خاض في الكيفية التي تؤثر بها إنسانيتنا المشتركة على الرؤية الكامنة وراء إبداعنا لكل ما نصمم. عبر مناقشة الموضوعات المعنية بالاستدامة والاحتوائية والمسؤولية المجتمعية، استكشف هذا القسم كيف يمكن للتصميم أن يعزز عافيتنا النفسية وأن ينمي مجتمعاتنا ويحمي كوكبنا داعياً إيانا للأخذ في الاعتبار الآثار الأوسع لاختياراتنا الإبداعية والحاجة إلى تبني ممارسات أخلاقية في التصميم. علاوةً على ذلك، تقصى هذا القسم أيضاً آثار إهمال هذه المبادئ مبرزاً تأثيراته السلبية على حياتنا وبيئتنا الطبيعية، ووفر منصة للمبدعين والمفكرين والحالمين لتبادل الأفكار وإلهام الحراك مشدداً على قوة التغيير الكامنة في التصميم المدروس.

Design in Film

This section explored the artistry of cinema craftsmanship, where each film is not merely a narrative but a meticulously crafted product of design. From the strategic placement of set elements to the thoughtful selection of locations, we unraveled the untold stories behind the scenes, showcasing how the intricacies of artistic direction, set design, costumes, lighting, and editing contribute to the unique design language of each film. We also examined how spaces and the built environment shape narrative and cinematography, illustrating that filmmaking is, at its core, an exemplary form of design.

استكشف هذا القسم فنية الحرفة السينمائية، حيث لا تمثل الأفلام سردية فحسب بل هي كذلك منتج تصميمي منمق. من تنظيم ديكور المشهد إلى الاختيار المتأمل لمواقع التصوير، حللنا القصص غير المحكية وراء الكواليس، وأظهرنا كيف يسهم التوجيه الفني وتصميم الديكور والأزياء والإضاءة والمونتاج في اللغة التصميمية المميزة لكل فيلم. كذلك تحرينا من كيفية تشكيل المساحات والبيئات المبنية للسرديات والتصوير السينمائي، مظهرين بذلك أن صناعة الأفلام في جوهرها هي شكل نموذجي للتصميم.

Design in Motion

This section explored the fusion of design with animation, video production, and technology. It encompassed a variety of applications, including short and long-form 2D and 3D animations, stop motion, and motion graphics. While celebrating the achievements and emerging technologies in design in motion, we also shed light on the challenges encountered in this dynamic space. This section offered a concise yet comprehensive view of the vibrant intersection where design and motion seamlessly converge.

استكشف هذا القسم نقطة التلاقي بين التصميم والتحريك وصناعة الفيديو والتقنية. وغطى مجموعة متنوعة من التطبيقات تتضمن أفلام التحريك ثنائية وثلاثية الأبعاد القصيرة والطويلة وأفلام التحريك المتوقف والرسوميات المتحركة. بينما احتفلنا بمنجزات التحريك وتقنياته الناشئة، ألقينا الضوء أيضاً على العقبات القائمة في هذه المساحة الحيوية. قدم هذا القسم نظرة وجيزة وشاملة على التلاقي الحي الذي يتقاطع فيه التصميم والتحريك بانسيابية.

Film My Design Co-Lab

Five locally produced short films, having their world premiere at the festival, were created during the 2nd edition of the Film My Design Co-Lab program (2022-2023), formerly known as the Emerging Local Talents program. During the 7-month-long, workshop-oriented mentorship program, aspiring designers and filmmakers were carefully selected to collaborate and respond to the program's theme, “Mission Green,” addressing environmental and climate change issues in Egypt through the lens of design, architecture, and city life. Design and film mentors guided the participants through every aspect of film production, including concept development, shooting, editing, and post-production.

Re-screening & awards ceremony

The festival concluded with a special re-screening of the FMD Co-Lab Program films, followed by an awards ceremony. The audience award was presented to "Umm Al Dunya," by Marwan Tarek and Selim El Garhy, while "Alive" by Mohamed Abo El Wafa, Karim Fouad, and Salma Enani, took home the jury award. These unique awards, designed by our partner at Atoms Studio, were crafted from rammed earth, a testament to the innovative use of sustainable materials. Karim Raafat, co-founder of Atoms Studio, shared insights into the creative challenge of transforming this building material into exquisite awards. Jury member Yomna Khattab, alongside filmmaker Ahmed Madgy and Sony Alpha Ambassador Abdelrahman Gabr, highlighted the exceptional quality of all five films, acknowledging the difficulty of selecting winners, especially given the tie between two outstanding entries.

فيلم ماي ديزاين" كو-لاب"

عرض أول لخمسة أفلام قصيرة محلية أنتجت من خلال الدورة الثانية لبرنامج "فيلم ماي ديزاين" كو-لاب (2022-2023) والمعروف سابقاً ببرنامج المواهب المحلية الناشئة. على مدار سبعة أشهر، وهي مدة برنامج الإرشاد المشكل على هيئة ورش العمل، أختير المصممون وصناع الأفلام بعناية للتعاون والتفاعل مع تيمة البرنامج، "يلا أخضر"، مخاطبين موضوعات البيئة وتغير المناخ في مصر من خلال عدسة التصميم والعمارة والحياة في المدينة. قام مرشدو التصميم وصناعة الأفلام بتوجيه المشاركين عبر كافة زوايا صناعة الأفلام بما في ذلك تطوير الأفكار والتصوير والمونتاج ومرحلة ما بعد الإنتاج.

اختتم المهرجان بعرض خاص لأفلام برنامج "فيلم ماي ديزاين كو-لاب" تلاه حفل توزيع الجوائز. وقد تم تقديم جائزة الجمهور إلى فيلم "أم الدنيا" لمروان طارق وسليم الجارحي، بينما حصل فيلم "حي" لمحمد أبو الوفا وكريم فؤاد وسلمى عناني على جائزة لجنة التحكيم. وقد تم تصميم الجوائز من قبل شركائنا في أتومز ستوديو، وتم صنعها من الطين المدكوك، وهي شهادة على الاستخدام المبتكر للمواد المستدامة. شارك كريم رأفت، المؤسس المشارك لأتومز ستوديو، برؤاه حول التحدي الإبداعي المتمثل في تحويل مواد البناء هذه إلى جوائز رائعة. ويمنى خطاب، عضوة لجنة التحكيم إلى جانب المخرج أحمد مجدي وسفير سوني ألفا عبد الرحمن جبر، سلطت الضوء على الجودة الاستثنائية لجميع الأفلام الخمسة، معترفة بصعوبة اختيار الفيلم الفائز، خاصة بالنظر إلى حدوث تعادل في البداية بين فيلمين.

Spotlight on Palestine

This program section, titled “Cinema of Exile: ‘The Other’ Perspectives on Reclaiming Palestine,” aimed to showcase global perspectives advocating for change and Palestinian rights through the impactful mediums of visualization and cinema. Through a curated selection of film screenings, this program seeked to amplify hope and unite the international community in standing with Palestine, emphasizing the universality of humanity and the power of cinema to inspire positive change.

برنامج هذا القسم، بعنوان "سينما المنفى: منظور الآخر في استعادة فلسطين"، هدف لعرض وجهات النظر العالمية المنادية بالتغيير والحقوق الفلسطينية عبر الوسائط البصرية والسينمائية المؤثرة. عبر اختياراتنا المنتقاة من عروض الأفلام، سعى هذا البرنامج إلى بث الأمل وإلى توحيد المجتمع الدولي على الوقوف إلى جانب فلسطين مشدداً على عالمية الإنسانية وقدرة السينما على إلهام التغيير الإيجابي.

قدم برنامج المهرجان للأفلام القصيرة اختياراً منسقاً ردد صدى موضوعات أقسام المهرجان الأساسية الثلاثة؛ التصميم في حياتنا والتصميم في الأفلام والتصميم في التحريك. أوَّل كل برنامج بشكل مميز تيمة المهرجان بالعامة "نصمم حياتنا لمستقبلٍ أفضل"، منطلقاً من السرديات شديدة الشخصية، وصولاً إلى الخبرات الجماعية الأوسع.

Motion Design Exhibition

The Film My Design festival hosts the first travel edition of the Design in Motion (DEMO) festival in Egypt, displaying over 300 motion design works by regional and international motion designers and artists.

Founded by Studio Dumbar/Dept® and Global, DEMO is the largest motion design festival in the world. It celebrates the finest motion design from top studios, designers, emerging talents, and art academies worldwide, showcasing their work for 24 hours on 5,000 digital screens in the Netherlands.

يستضيف مهرجان "فيلم ماي ديزاين" النسخة الأولى المتنقلة من مهرجان "التصميم في التحريك" (DEMO) في مصر. يضم هذا المعرض أكثر من 300 تصميم حركي من قبل مصممي وفناني حركة دوليين وإقليميين .

مهرجان "التصميم في التحريك" (DEMO)، الذي تأسس على يد ستوديو دمبار/ديبت® وجلوبال، هو أكبر مهرجان للتصميم الحركي في العالم. يحتفي المهرجان بأفضل أعمال التصميم الحركي الصادرة عن أفضل الستوديوهات والمصممين والمواهب الصاعدة وأكاديميات الفن حول العالم، عارضاً أعمالهم على مدار 24 ساعة باستخدام 5000 شاشة رقمية في هولندا.
