Emerging Local Talents Program
(2022-23)
The Emerging Local Talents (ELT) is an online mentorship program that targets up-and-coming designers and filmmakers based in Egypt. The program supports creatives in developing their practice by working closely and receiving mentorship from professionals in the creative industry.
In the 2nd round of the ELT program, each team of participating designers and filmmakers collaborated closely to produce eye-opening, educational, impactful, and inspiring short films in response to the program's theme, “Mission Green!”. This theme delved into the intersection of design, architecture, and urban life with environmental and climate change issues. Over a 7-month period, from November 2022 to May 2023, each team dedicated their efforts to shooting, editing, and producing a short film, as well as a trailer. Program mentors Mohamed Elshahed, an Independent Author and Curator, and Tamer Shaaban, a Film Director, guided the participants through every aspect of film production, including concept development, shooting, editing, and post-production.
The final films will be premiered at the 3rd edition of the FMD festival in October 2024!
