Un certain Nasser (2017)
A Certain Nasser is the compelling journey of iconic Lebanese filmmaker Georges Nasser who tells his own story of unprecedented success, struggles and disappointments. In 1957, he directed Ila Ayn, the first film to represent Lebanon in Cannes Film Festival’s official competition. In 1962, Nasser would replicate the same remarkable feat with Le Petit Etranger, also making it to the Cannes competition. Struggles and disappointments would follow. In 1975, he shot Al Matloub Rajol Wahed in Syria. Although the film starts as a success, the eruption of the Lebanese Civil War halts his career. Undefeated, Nasser would turn his attention to community work, fighting for the creation of a syndicate for Cinema technicians and teaching new generations the art of filmmaking.
