In Praise of Slowness

Set in modern-day Tangier, “In Praise of Slowness” follows a man collecting empty bottles to sell to bleach vendors in the old city's labyrinthine streets. Due to the global economic and technological forces reshaping Tangier, the bleach vendors' profession is on the verge of disappearing. This film captures their enduring supply chain and insistent chanting, highlighting resistance to accelerated urbanization and industrialization. “In Praise of Slowness” illustrates how local choreographies of slowness oppose the speed of capitalism.
