Within Fractal, in mathematics, you’ll find a never-ending pattern. Take, for example, the trunk of a tree – the way it diverges into smaller branches and twigs – is an approximate fractal pattern. The design thinking process is similar in the sense that it is a journey; one that diverts into every dimension, time and scale. It is a haphazard sequence of series of memories and experiences that are recalled to inspire the designer into developing an original masterpiece. As architects, we are programmed to examine everything we see or touch incessantly. However, in doing so, we forget to learn how to deal with mistakes and failures. In our field, we’re faced with these failures in the form of uncompleted projects every day. While they deeply affect us, it is a fight we undertake every day knowing there’s no room for losing. Luckily, as we search for inspiration, all that’s needed is to behold God’s creations and the wonder of nature, as nature’s beauty is unparalleled. For us, Design is Fractal.
