On August 26, “Design Waves” took place by the beach at Wonderville (Ras el Hekma, North Coast) in collaboration with Esorus and powered by Mountain View. The day was inaugurated with an exciting line-up of installations, curated by Two Emms, showcasing: Caravan Serai Design, Pencil Light, Decorative Glass, Malvorus, Rebel Cairo, Ebony Ivory Design, GDwaik Designs, IFI Egypt
Additionally, two live demonstrations of creating a sustainable building material by Atoms Studio and Hossama Art’s inlay of mother of pearl within its diverse wooden masterpieces were conducted.
FMD’s highlight was Egypt’s premiere screening of the Danish film “Making a Mountain” about building “CopenHill,” a ski slope on top of the waste-to-energy plant in Copenhagen. This documentary, directed by Kaspar Astrup Schröder, unraveled the design process of an eye-opening project by Bjarke Ingels, who merged waste management with an urban recreational space.
The night came to an end with Lets Go Big Music’s stunning performance.
